Location: The Department of La Libertad is located in the northern part of the country. Its limits are; the Pacífic Ocean in the west, the Departments of Huanuco, San Martín, Amazonas and Cajamarca in the east. Ancash in the south and Lambayeque in the north.
Climate: Varies according to the geographical area Considered. On the coast it is a desert and semi-warm climate; in the jungle of warm and semi-dry type; and in the semi-arid temperate sierra, which becomes a high-mountain dry puna climate above 4.000 meters of altitude.
Area: 25.799 square kilometers.
Capital: Trujillo. Located on the shore of the Pacific Ocean at 34 meters above sea level.

THE CITY OF TRUJILLO
The capital of La Libertad was founded by Diego de Almagro in 1534 under the name of Villa de Trujillo.
The city center, very well preserved, maintain the layout of it streets from the 16th century and rich colonial architecture in which mansions, palaces and churches predominate. Trujillo is also an important economic, artistic and cultural center, the region of numerous Creole Dances and the cradle of the breeding of the famous Peruvian Paso Horses.
