MAIN TOURISTIC ATTRACTIONS
Location: The Department of Junín is located in the central zone of the Peruvian Andes. Its limits with the departments of Pasco, Ucayali, Cusco, Ayacucho, Huancavelica y Lima.
Climate: Varied, since it includes areas of mountains and jungle. In the mountain areas, the climate is cold and dry, with marked differences in temperature between day and night. The rainy season runs from November to March.
Area: 43.384 square kilometers.
Capital: Huancayo. It is located at an altitude of 3.271 meters above sea level, in the valley of the Mantaro River.
TOURIST OFFER
The main attraction of the Department of Junín, apart from its natural resources and its historical importance in the Peruvian War of Independence, is the fact that it has the closest and most accessible jungle area with tourist interest to the city of Lima: the Chanchamayo, Region, belonging to the Amazonas basin.
Place of interest in the Chanchamayo Valley and its surroundings:
Town and Valley of Tarma: The Pearl of the Andes architecture colonial and Inca and pre-Inca archaeological remains.
Towns of the Chanchamayo Valley: san Ramos and La Merced (visitof native communities, circuits through the jungle, access to zoos)
Localities of Oxapampa and Pozuzo: German colonial populations.
From the 19th century and areas of natural interest (waterfalls, viewpoints canyons, geological formations).
Town of Puerto Bermudez: river port (Pachitea River: point of natural access to the Amazon River)
Satipo town: access to the jungle and visit to native communities.
