Location: The Department of Ica is located in the southwestern part of Peru. Its limits are: The Pacific Ocean in the west, the Departments of Huancavelica and Ayacucho in the east,  Arequipa  in the south and  Lima in the north.
Weather: Sunny all year. It is eminently desert, hot and dry, with little rain and a high level of sunshine. The coolest months are July and August, and the warmest from December to March with averages of 27ºC.
Area: 21.327 square kilómeters.
Capital: Ica. Located in the middle of the desert at an altitude of 406 meters above sea level.

The Department of Ica focuses its tourist offer both on its capital and on the impressive natural and archaeological wonders found in the vicinity of the towns of Pisco and Nazca.

In Ica, the liquors, which are produced throughout the Department, and the richness of its folklore and gastronomy, both with a strong influence of African origin, deserve special attention.

THE CITY OF ICA AND ITS SURROUNDINGS

The capital of Department of Ica is an important wine center located in the middle of a desert famous for it immense sand dunes. The climate in the city is dry and sunny, not being affected by the mist typical of the areas closet to the coast

In the surroundings of Ica are the Laguna of Huacachina(an oasis in the middle of the desert), the town of Cachiche (famous for its witches), the stone forest of the Frailes of Parcona and the Inca canal of Achirana.

Ica is famous for its wines, piscos and spirits, and it is possible to visit different wineries both in the capital and in nearby Guadalupe: Vita Alegre, Tacama Ocucaje, Peña. Lovera, El Carmen, Catador, etc.
